ASSEMBLIES: Behave respectfully and appropriately during assemblies. This includes standing/showing respect during the National Anthem/Pledge of Allegiance, sitting where assigned, paying attention to the presenter, participating in a manner appropriate for the assembly, and leaving electronic devices out of sight. Students failing to meet these expectations may be removed from the assembly and are subject to school discipline.

CAFETERIA and LUNCH POLICY:
School Lunch / Breakfast
Parents may add money to their student’s account via Skyward with a debit or credit card. Money deposited in this way is immediately available to the student to purchase food in the cafeteria. Cashiers cannot accept checks.

Students may add money to their account by completing a lunch deposit slip in the main office before 9:30am. Money deposited after 9:30am will not be reflected in their account until the next business day. Students may also pay for a lunch with cash as they go through the lunch line.

Vending machines are available and are to be used at students’ own risk. South Hills will not reimburse students for money lost in these machines.

Cafeteria Expectations

Disrespectful behavior such as leaving trays, climbing over tables, throwing food, cutting in line, or horseplay may result in school discipline.

COUNSELING CENTER: The Counseling Center is available for the following:
● Academic support
● Class schedules
● Social/emotional wellness
● Home and Hospital information
● Virtual schooling options and resources
Appointments need to be made in advance.

HALL PASSES: During class time, students are permitted to use the hall pass with the teacher's permission. Teacher discretion will be used in the event of emergencies. Abuse of hall passes or failure to use a hall pass may result in school discipline.

HALLWAYS and PASSING PERIODS: Students are expected to proceed from class to class in a respectful and timely manner. Running, pushing, shoving, throwing objects, public displays of affection, etc., is not permitted. Students should not congregate in hallways, intersections, and bathroom entryways. Misbehavior in the hallways may result in school discipline.

LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER (LMC)Students may check out books in the library. Students are responsible to return books and materials to the library on time. Fines will be assessed for late returns or lost or damaged items. All fine money directly benefits students. Library Pass: Students are welcome to come to the library during lunch. Students must pick up a pass before lunch, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and then come to the library for the remaining lunch time. No food, drink, or gum is allowed in the library.

LOCKERS and OTHER SCHOOL PROPERTY: Students are responsible for respecting and maintaining all school property, including textbooks, equipment, desks, chairs, lockers, etc. Students must not write on, scratch, carve, dent, or in any way deface school property. Students who violate these regulations may lose privileges or access and/or make payment sufficient to cover damages or replacement costs. School lockers are property of the school and may be searched.

SCHOOL HOURS:
Monday - Thursday: 7:30am to 3:30pm
Fridays: 9:30am - 3:30pm
** Students should not be in the school outside of these hours unless prior arrangements have been made with school personnel.

VENDING MACHINES: Vending machines are available and are to be used at students’ own risk. South Hills Middle School will not reimburse students for money lost in these machines.
